We could become bffs. I don't make the rules.
Hey girl! I'm Cagney!

You started your creative business & you know you need a logo. And some colors. And some fonts.

So, you spend HOURS on Pinterest looking for inspiration and HOURS searching for the perfect fonts & colors – only to find yourself bent over your computer exhausted hating absolutely everything you designed.

So you give up & scrap the whole idea, thinking “branding can’t be that important, can it?”

OR you’ve been told you need a website.

So, you start researching which web platform is right for your creative business (it’s probably Showit), but then you hop into the platform only to find yourself staring at the blank canvas not knowing where to start, what pages to have, what to write, and how to make it look as cool as your business.

OR you know you need to post about your business on socials.

So, you make an Instagram account, follow a bunch of algorithm “experts” that’ll tell you to try “this viral reel hack!” & “post on stories 10x/day” only to find yourself burnt out not even knowing what to post, what your unique POV even is, or how to make your feed look on brand.

And the good news is, we’ve all been there.

And the even BETTER news, is I’ve got some things that’ll help make it all a lil’ easier.

It’s how I got myself to be consistent at the gym for the past 2 years, but it’s also how I became more consistent with posting content, staying on brand, & having a bomb ass website.

THE 4 STEPS TO:

Staying consistent with your branding, social media, & website

01. HAVE A PROCESS

Every single night before I go to the gym, I make sure I set out my workout clothes, shoes + fill up my water bottle, so that right when I wake up, I don’t even have to think.

I’ve also got no excuse to not go to the gym, since my clothes are literally staring back at me telling my ass to wake up.

I’ve made it wicked easy to show up – consistently. And, dare I say, make going to the gym non stressful & exciting.

The same goes with posting on your social media.

Having a process set in place helps you to not only be able to post consistently, but also have fun while doing it.

For my own socials, I have a Notion dashboard when I can brainstorm content ideas, label what type of post it’s going to be (reel, carousel, newsletter, blog, etc.) & what project stage it’s in (draft, planning, creating, editing, scheduled, posted, etc.).

I can also easily move things around on the calendar when I’m not feeling like posting that type of content that week! (For example, this week’s newsletter was “technically” scheduled for next week. BUT, I moved it up because I wasn’t feeling inspired by what content was “supposed” to be posted today.)

02. FOCUS ON WHAT YOU LOVE TO DO

I absolutely hateeeee coming up with my own workouts. And I’m also not trying to be surrounded by gym bros that scare me when they slam down their weights.

But what I do love is having a workout class instructor tell me exactly what to do, while being surrounded by other people struggling to do the workout too.

When showing up for your brand, choose something you can stick with consistently.

Maybe you love writing, send a newsletter every week!

Or maybe you love editing videos and telling a story (like me), start posting reels.

Or maybe you love to yap (also like me, lol) and love long-form content, create a blog!

Whatever you choose, be consistent with it!

I promise you, you don’t need to write a newsletter, a blog post, and post on Instagram every single week. Start with just one thing.

Then, add on what peaks your interest & what you can consistently keep up with!

03. CHOOSE A TIME THAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU

I will never be a 5am workout girlie. That sounds like literal hell. And I absolutely hate working out in the evening. After a day filled with work, the last thing I want to do is go to the gym.

But what I can do is choose a time that works best for me & my lifestyle!

You can do the same with your posting schedule. Whether that’s what time you post or how many times you post a week, choose something you can realistically be consistent with.

03. THERE IS NOT ONE SOLUTION

Going to the gym is not the only solution for living a healthy, fulfilled life.

You also have to eat well, take care of your skin, treat yourself with kindness, not neglect your mental health, surround yourself with friends and family, get enough sleep…the list goes on.

Posting consistently on Instagram isn’t going to be the end all be all solution to being successful in your creative business.

It takes time building a community of people who love the work you do, stick around, and ultimately want to buy what you sell.

But, showing up for yourself and, in turn, your business, is the first step to gaining confidence and believing in yourself.

And having a brand filled with colors & fonts that excite you to actually want to create content.

And having a website you’re proud to show off, rather than feeling embarrassed when someone asks if you have a website.
