There’s plenty of website platforms out there. We’ve got Squarespace, Showit, Shopify, Wix, WordPress, just to name a few.
It’s no secret I’m a big fan of Showit, but is it best for your business? Let’s find out.
Why I’m obsessed with the Showit website platform & why you should be too
MADE WITH CREATIVES IN MIND
As a creative entrepreneur myself, Showit is set up for creatives in mind. The backend is quite similar to Adobe Creative Cloud apps which makes it super easy to get used to.
I’m on Adobe Illustrator just about every day so to have a website platform be similar in set up made learning Showit a smooth transition.
But maybe you’re a creative who isn’t using Illustrator and Photoshop on the daily. I promise ya, you’ll also get the hang of it quite quickly.
Especially since I send over website tutorials going over everything laid out in your custom website. Not to mention Showit’s support who are REAL people helping you out with any questions you have & send GIFs along the way.
FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE WITH NO CODING NECESSARY
The design aspect (of course my favorite part as a website designer) is endless in Showit. You can do just about anything with no coding necessary.
Throwback to crying of stress in my Computer Science 101 class my freshman year of college. It was dreadful and I absolutely hated it.
So if you’re a coding hater like me, you’ll be happy to know coding isn’t needed to make a beautifully custom designed website (unlike Squarespace).
And if there is some custom code I’d like to embed, I can do that! Thank you Google for answering all my coding questions I may have. You were way better than my college professor.
BUILT IN WORDPRESS BLOG
To all my bloggers out there, you heard that right. Showit has WordPress blog integrated into their platform. You can also migrate any old blogs if you’re making the switch to Showit.
If you’re new to blogging, WordPress is many bloggers go-to blogging platform. Designing a website in WordPress though? A nightmare. It’s just not as easy or as customizable as Showit is.
So the fact that Showit allows you to have a beautifully designed website, but also get the benefits of WordPress blogging…a match made in heaven.
GREAT FOR SERVICE PROVIDERS (PRODUCT-BASED BUSINESSES LISTEN UP THOUGH!)
Showit was originally made for service-based businesses — specifically photographers. So naturally, the tools made in Showit cater to service providers. Meaning there is no shop page built into Showit.
However, product-based businesses do not fret! Showit allows you to use shop plug-ins. This allows for a completely custom shopping experience built in Showit.
Here’s a few of my go-to shop plug-ins:
- Shopify Starter
- Good for smaller shops
- Can add multiple products to cart
- Thrive Cart
- Uses an up sell model (great for service providers!)
- Has payment plans
- Flodesk Checkout
- Kinda similar to Shopify Starter
- Very user-friendly (especially if you’re already used to Flodesk for email marketing)
